Most Popular Questions

Safety is our first priority for your loved ones, your property, and our employees. All of our products are approved and regulated by Health Canada and we follow all the product guidelines and licensing requirements. As a general timeframe, depending on weather, we recommend all kids and pets stay off the lawn for 12 hours after treatments. It's best to wait until the lawn has dried and liquid products are absorbed. For more information, please read our article about weed control safety.

                          Weed Control Safety

We have two ways of notifying our customers:
1. Email Before
2. Text Before
These notifications will be sent out one day prior to the treatment to give you a heads up in case you need to reschedule.

No worries! Since our crews run during business hours, most of our clients are working during the day and are not home. Please make sure to keep the gate unlocked and the pets inside before you leave so our technician will have access to the front and back yard.

If it's a weather delay, we will notify you that we are not coming by and will postpone your service until the next workable day. If our crew is running behind and won't be able to make it to your property, we will notify you in advance and schedule you in for the following day.

Yes! We will return free of charge if the weeds are not dying after an application of our weed treatment.

A clean lawn helps us provide a more effective service. Toys on the lawn, leaves and other things left lying around can affect our ability to complete the service.

Our Company Policies

Depending on the circumstances and situation, our cancellation policy is 20%.

We want to hear from you! We do our best to delight our customers throughout the season, and have an entire customer success team dedicated to ensuring your happiness. If you are not happy for any reason please be in touch with us, as we want to make things right. Please email support@yarddawgs.ca or call us at (587) 254-2337 ext. 2, and we will work with you to resolve the issue.

Our prices are for lawns up to 1000 square feet. If your lawn is bigger, we will need to slightly adjust prices in order accommodate for more product and time required for a larger areas. Typically, corner lots and pie shape lots cover a    great deal of area and will see a significant price increases from those on our website. We do all our lawn measurements through Google Maps.

Yes! We scale our packages depending on the length of time left in the season. Mid-season, there will be less services remaining, so therefore the price will reflect this.

For your convenience our services continue year to year unless otherwise requested.

We will contact you at the end of the season and before services renew in the Spring. At this time you have the choice to change your package or cancel all together.

Aeration Services

Yes you do! When our pre-notification goes out and you are scheduled for an aeration, please mark your sprinklers with anything noticeable so that technician will see them. Flags are preferred!

Any damage to unmarked sprinklers during the aeration service will not be covered.

Although aeration cores may not be the most pleasant to look at, keeping them on your lawn after an aeration helps recycle the soil, add topdressing to your lawn and increase water retention. Don't worry though, after approximately 2 weeks the aeration cores will begin to decompose. We don't remove the cores from your lawn since we want the results from our service to be the most effective!

We are honouring any spring aerations booked before 2022. As of this year we have switched to providing fall aerations only.  Major growing seasons occur in the spring and fall, which is why it is best to decompact the ground and open it up for water and nutrients to enter during these periods. The reason we have decided to only offer fall aerations is because there is a much greater chance for weeds to establish in your lawn when you aerate in spring. You don't want to fight an uphill battle with weeds all season, and neither do we!

Weed Control

Yes they do! We have a few scheduled services that snuff weeds out at the beginning of the season and then maintain them going forward. However, if you notice any new weeds popping up on your lawn in between visits, do not hesitate to contact us either at support@yarddawgs.ca or by speaking to a member of our customer success team at (587) 254-2337 ext. 2. We will gladly have one of our technicians come out and take care of them as many times as you need!

Please note that it takes between 7-10 days to see the full effect of our weed control.

We ask you to please wait 12 hours to start watering after a weed control application. Water will wash off the weed control and it will not be effective. To receive the best results from our weed control, it needs to be fully absorbed into the weed. On hotter days this can happen much quicker than 12 hours, but it's best to let the area completely dry for the full 12 hours.

Mother Nature!! As much as we do to predict the weather and adjust when we are spraying weeds, sometimes mother nature catches us by surprise. In the case of it raining shortly after we have applied weed control to your lawn, we will automatically reschedule you to make sure we get all those weeds. You can expect to see us back in 2-4 business days depending on routes and weather for those upcoming days. If you don't receive an email from us about another spray, then you know the weed control had enough time to be absorbed before the rain hit!

Spring and in the fall are the best times to spray weeds. In the summer, the weed control isn't as effective. Full lawn sprays on hot days above 30 degrees can even harm your lawn! This being said, spot treatments are usually still effective and will be done if required.

Fertilizer

Absolutely, water away! We want to make sure the fertilizer embeds into the soil. Watering the fertilizer helps it enter the soil and begin to provide nutrients to your grass.  However, if a weed control application happened at the same time, then we ask you to please hold off on watering for 12 hours to let the weed control absorb into the weeds.

You can check your post-service email to see what services we're completed to know if you can water or not. Check out our blog on how to water your lawn for best results below!

Best Way To Water Your Lawn

It's a custom blended fertilizer, specifically designed for Alberta's climate. It is a slow release fertilizer and a golf-grade quality product!

We don't recommend mowing your lawn for 24 hours after fertilization. Mowing the lawn can remove some fertilizer pellets and decrease its effectiveness. Instead, water your grass and wait 24 hours to mow it.

Yes it is, the fertilizer we use is safe for pets and kids. It gets embedded into the soil since it's granular and this means it is very difficult for your pets or kids to be exposed to it.
